ZENAGA N° 104GL

An exceptional Zenaga cover (so called Glaoua), 1980s-90s, from the southwestern Jebel Siroua region, in mixed technique with a punk character in design. This piece shows typical features of the region, such as the patterned bands using the weft-twining technique and the alternating stripes in the background. In combination with the knotted abstract pattern in the foreground, it transforms into a rarer seen, wilder version of the otherwise renowned prestige covers from the Ait Ouaouzguite region. It is a magnificent combination of inventive decorative techniques held within a more traditional approach to compositional structure. This piece can be used as a floor covering.
