BENI MTIR N° 520BMT

A striking Beni Mtir rug, 1930s-1940s, with an exceptional color variation in the field (known as abrash) ranging from purplish red to different hues of blood orange. The complex but more regular „double V“ pattern, enigmatically peeking through the pile, is characteristic for the work of a male master weaver. The whole composition is framed by motifs that are borrowed from Rabat rugs. Please note the many variations in color, the indigo and yellow woolen fibers in the pattern, and the dense and elegant surface – all adding more depth to the overall piece. This rug can be used on both sides, flatweave or pile side, depending on your needs. A high res image of the back side is available upon request.
